R.K. Fitten is an award-winning journalist, who has done extensive reporting across the country, specializing in criminal justice and social issues. He also has considerable experience in sales, and market and public opinion research.
The native Detroiter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, spent a year as a Journalism Fellow at the University of Michigan, and has been the recipient of more than a dozen feature and news-writing-reporting awards, including the Washington State Governor’s Journalism Award for stories about the developmentally disabled.

The March, which he characterizes as art imitating life, is his debut novel. A second novel, Music Rain, will be released in the fall of 2026.
The pandemic, Fitten revealed, compelled him to embark on a “dark night of the soul writing sojourn” in which he completed three novels in three years. And he expects to continue that writing sojourn until he “transitions to the land of stars.”
